Volunteering with UVP

We are now accepting applications for the 2005 summer season! We are also accepting long term applications for serious applicants who want to really help us get our project in full swing by staying for 6 months or a year in Iganga! Please scroll down for long term applicant information.

Summer/6 week volunteers!

This trip will run from June 2 - July 15.  Please do not apply unless you can attend for the ENTIRE period of time, unless you are a professional and not a student. Please apply to be part of a 25-person multidisciplinary team including, but not limited to:

Medical Doctors                                             Medical students

Nurse Practitioners                                        Dental students

Dentists                                                           Pharmacy students

Registered Nurses                                         Nursing students

Physical Therapists                                        Anthropology students

Pharmacists                                                    Nutrition students

Dieticians                                                        Agriculture students

In order to be maximally effective, volunteers will be splitting up into 4 "satellite projects,” each based in one village and allied with one Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization.  Villages hosting volunteers are all located in the Iganga District in southeastern Uganda.  Every satellite project will be conducting similar health and education projects, as well as unique initiatives based on the interests, talents, and specific conditions of each site.

Volunteers will be staying in houses rented from local Non-Governmental Organizations, some of which have electricity and running water.  Volunteer houses are located in the hub of rural centers, so that volunteers have the opportunity to live among rural Ugandans and establish close links with their community of service.
